  12. The "fsck suite" (the Software) is Copyright (C) Sergio Monesi 1994-1996 (the
  13. Author) and may not be used or copied except as in accord with the terms and
  14. conditions below.

  16. You may NOT Make the Software available to any third party EXCEPT with these
  17. terms and conditions imposed on said party.
  18.  
  19. You MUST make sure the Software is distributed whole, intact and unmodified,
  20. including all the files in the original distribution.

  22. If you use the Software regularly or if it fixes your disc then you MUST
  23. register the Software (see below).  You may NOT copy (except for personal
  24. use) the Software if it has been registered, and you may NOT give to any
  25. third party any registration keys you have been issued with.
  26.  
  27. You may NOT sell, hire or include the Software in a package which is sold or
  28. hired, modify, translate, disassemble, decompile, reverse engineer, or create
  29. derivative works based upon the Software, include whole or part of the
  30. Software into other works or use the Software in commercial services.

  32. The Software is supplied "as is", the Author make no warranty, express or
  33. implied, as to the merchantability or its fitness for any particular purpose.  
  34. It may or may not perform in accordance with the documentation or your
  35. expectations.

  37. In no circumstances will the Author be liable for any damage, loss of data,
  38. profits, goodwill or for any indirect or consequential loss arising out of
  39. the use of the Software, or inability to use the Software, even if the
  40. Author have been advised of the possibility of such loss.

  42. These conditions supersede any prior agreement, oral or written, between you
  43. and the Author relating to the Software.

  45. You agree that except for written separate agreements between the Author and
  46. you, this agreement is a complete and exclusive statement of the rights and
  47. liabilities of the parties.

  49. You acknowledge that you have read this agreement, that you understand this
  50. agreement, and by loading, running or copying the Software you agree to be
  51. bound by this agreement's terms and conditions.

  54. Registering
  55. -----------
  56.  
  57. To register you simply have to send the Author a registration fee (in the
  58. form of bank notes, don't send cheques please) of not less than 5 pounds,
  59. 15.000 lire, 20 marks, 10 US dollars, 50 francs, 25 Nlg or equivalent.  If
  60. you want you can include a disc and, say, 2 pounds for mail costs, and you
  61. will be sent the latest version of the Software along with some other PD
  62. programs.  Please don't send a disc if you have access to Internet since all
  63. my programs are available via WWW, FTP and eventually email.

  65. In return you will be given a registration key in the form of a user name,
  66. features code and a 10 digit user code.
  67.  
  68. To register your Software you have to use the fsckregist program. See
  69. "regist_hlp" for more informations about how to use it.
  70. If you want to unregister the Software (before you give it to a friend maybe)
  71. you still have to use fsckregist entering a null user code.

  73. Registered versions of the Software may have additional features that are not
  74. supplied with the unregistered version. See the documentation of every single
  75. program for more informations.

  77. Registration keys will also work with future versions of the Software unless
  78. the Author decide otherwise.

  81. A small note
  82. ------------

  84. If you now are using an improved version of fsck, is especially because there
  85. is someone who encouraged me to continue its development by sending me a
  86. registration fee. I freely distribute this new version instead of sending it
  87. only to registered users because this is the spirit of ShareWare: I hope I
  88. will not regret of this choice!

  94. The desktop version of fsck has been finally released as a commercial
  95. product. It is distributed by Oregan Developments with the name Oregan Disc
  96. Doctor at 29.95 UKP (at the time of writing). 
  97.  
  98. Disc Doctor features three main programs:
  99. - DiscAid: the functionalities of fsck, eliminate and hardfix combined in a
  100.   single easy-to-use desktop program
  101. - MapView: disc map displaying program, useful to analyse how files,
  102.   directories and free chunks are stored on the disc surface
  103. - Resurrect: powerful 'undelete' tool, retrieves files and directories
  104.   previously deleted
